Content Creator – Technology, Media and Society

Are you a content creator with a demonstrated interested and experience in technology, human rights, and democracy? Do you possess an insightful perspective on technology, media and algorithms? If so, we invite you to consider the role of Content Creator at Gözlemevi – Turkey’s Observatory.

As a Content Creator, you will collaborate closely with our team of researchers, journalists, and editors to develop unique, engaging content centered on technology, democracy, and human rights issues. Your responsibilities will extend beyond writing and may include designing infographics, managing social media accounts, and assisting in other related tasks as needed.

At Gözlemevi – Turkey’s Observatory, our mission is to uphold digital freedoms and democracy. We provide journalists with the tools they need to navigate the digital world through our flagship algorithmic empowerment program, and we offer training on subjects at the intersection of technology and democracy.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Journalism, Communications, or any field that will help understand how technology interacts with democracy.
• At least 3 years of experience in content creation, particularly in a digital media setting. Experience with news analysis, data journalism, or social media management is a plus.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills. You should be able to write clear, concise, and engaging content in English and Turkish. You should also have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all content is accurate, free of errors, and adheres to the organization’s editorial guidelines.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines. You should be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You should also be able to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines without compromising on the quality of your work.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. You should be able to work effectively with researchers, journalists, and other members of the team, contributing to the organization’s overall goals and objectives. You should also be able to provide constructive feedback to others and be receptive to feedback on your own work.
• Proficiency in English and Turkish. You should be fluent in both languages and be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken forms. You should also have a strong knowledge of grammar, syntax, and punctuation in both languages.
